Jason & Alexandra
We are delighted that you chose to view our profile! We believe adoption is a leap of faith and hope you decide to take this journey with us. We believe God led us to American Adoptions and it's no coincidence you found our profile. We have a beautiful life full of love and joy, which we cannot wait to share with our future child. May God bless you as you consider us on your journey.
Why We Chose Adoption
Early on in our relationship it became clear we both had a strong desire to have children. As our love grew stronger, so did our excitement to get married and start a family. As Jason was making his plans to propose, Alexandra was preparing for what was supposed to be routine surgery. To her shock and dismay, this led to an unexpected medical crisis where she was faced with the difficult decision to have a hysterectomy to avoid a potentially life threatening illness. Although this was an extremely difficult time, we feel blessed that Alexandra was given an opportunity to have a healthy future and are grateful we could go through this time together. While adoption was not how we initially envisioned we would create our family, we have no doubt it was always part of God's plan and we are excited to be on this adoption journey together!
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Jason About Alexandra: When I look at Alex I see a beautiful woman, inside and out. She has devoted her life to helping people, whether it is through her profession as a school social worker or in her personal life where she is constantly making everybody's day better. My admiration for Alexandra's career is immense, as she dedicates her day to helping children who struggle with issues not only related to school, but with things they cannot control in their lives at home away from the classroom.
When she is home from work, she lights up at the sight of our dogs, family and friends. Her laughter and devotion to the comfort of everybody around her are just some of the things that I love most about her (plus her cooking!). Her nurturing approach leaves no doubt that her love will grow exponentially when she is able to call herself a mother.
Alexandra About Jason: I never believed in love at first sight until I met Jason. Not only did I fall for him, but for his dog, Cosmo. In fact, a love for dogs was something we shared and Cosmo was with us from the start, joining us for a beach walk on our first date. Jason is easy to love, which is evident by how many people admire him. Every morning I thank God for bringing Jason into my life. He is a stand-up guy who never hesitates to help someone in need, write me a love note, or go the extra mile at work. He is a family man and is devoted to his nieces and nephews. Just as he goes the extra mile at work, Jason doesn't simply call on their birthdays, but rather, attends their games, plans activities, and rewards them for their efforts in school. I have no doubt Jason will be a loving and devoted father.
Our Pups, Cosmo & Lizzie
We love dogs! Ever since we both were kids, we have had dogs as pets. To us, our dogs are part of the family. We currently have two dogs who were adopted from local rescue groups. Cosmo is a terrier mix and Lizzie is a Beagle/French Bulldog mix. If you asked them, they would say life is pretty good! They enjoy frequent belly rubs, chasing tennis balls in the backyard, hikes at local parks, and snuggling up on the couch with snacks while we all watch TV or a movie together. While dogs can be entertaining (Cosmo can do a few tricks!), they also provide comfort at the end of a long day, unconditional love, and are our constant loyal companions. We believe dogs are an essential part of any family and look forward to creating memories as our child grows up in a house with dogs who lick the food up that they spill on their lap, greet them with a kiss and wag of the tail when they get off the school bus, and snuggle closely with them when they are feeling down.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Connecticut, which is a great state as we are a short drive to the beach or train ride to New York City. This allows for the best of both worlds because we can have the peace & quiet of a residential neighborhood during the week and experience a cultural event such as a Broadway show on the weekend. Another great part of living here is having all four seasons, which includes apple picking in fall, sledding in winter, visiting the ballpark in spring, and beach days over summer.
Our town is small with a big heart! We grew up here and although our paths didn't cross until later in life, we decided to plant roots where we started. Our house has 4 bedrooms, cozy family room, large dining room to gather for homemade meals, craft room, and finished basement with sports memorabilia and board games. A wonderful extension of our home is the large deck and beautiful backyard with flower & vegetable gardens and a wooded trail great for exploring.
Our home is our sanctuary, but when we want to enjoy time with our friends and family, we go to one of the many family friendly restaurants or community centers located close by, which include two parks, with tennis and basketball courts, pools, and sports fields.
Annual events in town include Halloween on Main Street, with candy, creative costumes, and fun. There's also a Labor Day parade, which is a great time to see neighbors and celebrate community groups.
Our Extended Families
Our family is small but tight-knit. We live in the town we grew up in, and Jason's parents live in the same house he and his siblings grew up in. Alexandra's mother still lives in town as well. Our siblings are either in town or just a couple of towns over and everybody lives within a half-hour of each other.
Aside from the "adults" - we have a college-aged niece and nephew along with five nieces and nephews between the ages of 5 and 13.
This makes for many weekend and holiday gatherings, which consist of backyard games like whiffle ball and water balloon fights, grilled dinners and s'mores around the fire. When the weather calls for us to be inside, we enjoy Scrabble and watching movies or the big game.
Alexandra's family grew up vacationing to Martha's Vineyard, looking forward to the ferry ride to the island and enjoying The Flying Horses antique carousel. Jason's family vacations on Cape Cod, where we enjoy the beach, restaurants and competitive mini-golf. Both traditions continue and those locations will always be a part of our family fabric.
But when we are home, everybody loves being with one another as much as possible and we have plenty of room for our family to grow. Our parents and siblings are excited to provide as much daycare as possible, and the nieces and nephews are sure to be over the moon with a new baby cousin to welcome into our family.
From Us to You
While we don't know the exact life events that have led you to this point, we imagine you have been on an emotional path full of ups and downs. Our hope is that learning about us through our profile has helped settle your nerves and reassured you that you are making the best choice for your baby by choosing us as the adoptive parents. We realize that adoption is the most selfless act one can make and will never minimize the gravity of the choice you are considering making.
Alexandra is currently a school social worker at an elementary school and has been working with children her entire professional life. This career has allowed her to connect with children in impactful ways and she understands how to empower them to develop their skills and explore their talents.
Jason works in television production and sports journalism, growing his love of sports from his youth into his professional career as an adult. While almost all of his work is done at the office, he is able to travel to big events from time-to-time, and he is excited to take advantage of those opportunities and bring our child with him so they can share those experiences.
We have been together for two years and it was love at first sight. We knew immediately that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and we made it official when we were married in June of 2020. We knew before our marriage that we were going to start a family in short order, as we were excited to share our love with a growing family.
We have a solid moral compass, which helps direct our steps and guide us in our decisions. Having both been raised with strong morals and ethics, we value being a loyal friend, loving family member, and neighbor who gives back to their community. These are values we will instill in our child as well as teaching them the value of an education and importance of having a strong work ethic. Our faith in God is part of the foundation of our relationship and will be an integral part of our child's upbringing.
We are grateful for your brave decision to consider this path, and we hope that you choose to share that journey with us. Your courage is not lost on us and that story will be shared with your baby as he or she grows and naturally has questions about where he or she came from. We hope that we can help answer those questions by having contact with you and sharing stories, pictures and emails with each other. We recognize that your baby will one day have natural curiosity about his or her birth parents. We want to encourage communication so that those questions are not lingering curiosities.
As your baby is certainly going to be loved beyond the ability of words to describe, sharing our admiration for your act of selflessness with the child will be a basis for that love.
