Scott & Betsy

Having children is something that we have always wanted to experience. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been unable to realize that dream. For the past 4 years, we underwent multiple rounds of in-vitro fertilization. Unfortunately, none of those were successful. Adoption is our last chance to become parents and we are beyond grateful for this opportunity to share our lives with you.

What It Means to Become Parents

Relaxing at Home

To us, being parents means embracing a profound responsibility and privilege to nurture, guide, and love a child unconditionally. It's about creating a safe, supportive environment where our child feels cherished, valued, and empowered to explore their unique potential and pursue their dreams.

Being parents means being role models, teaching by example the values of kindness, compassion, resilience, and integrity. It's about fostering a sense of curiosity, wonder, and empathy, and encouraging our child to embrace diversity, embrace challenges, and embrace their own identity with confidence and pride.

It means being present and attentive, listening with an open heart, and offering guidance and support through life's triumphs and tribulations. It's about celebrating the big milestones and the everyday moments, finding joy in the simple pleasures of shared laughter, hugs, and conversations around the dinner table.

Being parents means being lifelong learners, continually adapting and growing alongside our child, learning from each other, and building a strong foundation of trust, respect, and communication. It's about creating a sense of belonging and security, knowing that our child always has a place to call home and a family who loves them unconditionally.

Our Passions

Hiking

We both lead rich and fulfilling lives filled with diverse interests and hobbies that bring us joy and fulfillment.

Betsy enjoys walking or hiking. There's something deeply rejuvenating about immersing myself in nature, whether it's a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood or an adventurous hike along scenic trails. She finds solace and serenity in the great outdoors, and looks forward to sharing this love of nature with our future child.

Gardening is another passion of Betsy's, where she finds joy in nurturing and tending to plants and flowers. There's a sense of satisfaction in watching seeds sprout, flowers bloom, and vegetables ripen under my care. She envisions spending quality time in the garden with our child, teaching them the wonders of nature and instilling a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the environment.

As for Scott, he is a devoted sports fan, with a particular love for baseball and football. Whether he's cheering on his favorite teams from the comfort of our living room or attending live games, his enthusiasm for sports is contagious. He also enjoys staying active by running around our neighborhood.

Catching up with friends for lunch and discussing fantasy football is another favorite pastime of his. It's a chance to bond over shared interests, swap stories, and engage in friendly competition.

Why We Chose Adoption

Our journey to adoption has been shaped by a deep desire to fulfill our dreams of parenthood and to build a family filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities. After enduring over four years of failed IVF treatments, we came to the realization that our path to parenthood might look different than we initially envisioned, but our longing to become parents remained unwavering.

Growing up in large, loving families ourselves, we have always known the joy and fulfillment that comes from being surrounded by the warmth and support of relatives. We cherish the memories of family gatherings, shared traditions, and the bonds of kinship that have shaped our lives. These experiences have instilled in us a deep appreciation for the importance of family and a profound desire to create a nurturing and loving home for a child of our own.

Through adoption, we see an opportunity to fulfill our dreams of becoming parent. We are excited about the prospect of opening our hearts and our home to a precious little one, and we are committed to providing them with all the love, care, and opportunities they need to thrive and flourish.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home at Halloween

We feel incredibly fortunate to call our suburb of Baltimore home, as it offers a wonderful blend of convenience, safety, and community warmth. Our neighborhood is nestled within close proximity to both excellent public and private schools, providing abundant opportunities for education and growth for our future child.

One of the highlights of our area is that there are many parks and recreational spaces nearby. We often enjoy taking leisurely strolls through the neighborhood parks, picnicking on sunny afternoons, and exploring the playgrounds with our three beloved dogs.

Our Cape Cod-style home, with its three bedrooms and two bathrooms, provides ample space for our family to grow and thrive. The large fenced-in yard offers a secure outdoor haven for our dogs to play and for our child to explore.

We are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a tight-knit community of families, many of whom have young children of their own. The camaraderie and support within our neighborhood are palpable, with regular gatherings and events throughout the year. From block parties to holiday celebrations, there's always an opportunity to connect, socialize, and forge lasting friendships.

Our Extended Families

Betsy's Family

Betsy has two biological brothers and seven step-siblings. She has been blessed with a large and loving family that extends far beyond blood relations.

Her parents both come from large families themselves, and as a result, she has many cousins, nieces, and nephews who she cherishes dearly. Family gatherings are a regular occurrence in our lives, with birthdays and holidays serving as joyous occasions for us to come together.

While some family members are geographically close, others are scattered across the United States and even as far as St. Croix. Despite the distance, we remain connected through phone calls, video chats, and occasional visits, ensuring that our familial bonds remain strong and resilient.

Betsy & Her Mom

Scott was born the third of seven children – all boys. His family is very supportive of their adoption plans. Of his five surviving siblings, all have multiple children, and they often share how the children have enriched their lives. Growing up, his parents did not have much money. So, he and his brothers could often be found in the backyard playing sports, especially baseball. To this day, they often talk about the fun we had playing with and against each other and the neighborhood kids. Unfortunately, both of his parents have passed, and they were the ones who hosted the holidays. While they do not celebrate those together anymore, they stay in touch with each other via social media, telephone calls, and text messages. Scott is also fortunate to work professionally with one of his younger brothers, which is a blessing.

From Us to You

We hope this letter finds you well and surrounded by love and support during this momentous time in your life. We cannot imagine the depth of emotions you must be experiencing as you consider the future of your precious child. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your courage, strength, and selflessness in considering adoption.

We are Scott and Betsy, and we are writing to you with hearts full of hope and a shared desire to provide a loving, nurturing home for your child. Our journey to parenthood has been filled with its own set of challenges, but through it all, our commitment to building a family grounded in love, compassion, and unwavering support has never wavered.

From the moment we learned about the opportunity to welcome a child into our lives through adoption, we knew in our hearts that this was the path meant for us. We are filled with anticipation and excitement at the thought of growing our family and creating a home where laughter, learning, and unconditional love abound.

We want you to know that we deeply respect and honor your decision, whatever it may be. We understand that this is a deeply personal choice, and we want to assure you that, should you choose us as the adoptive parents for your child, we will cherish and honor that decision every single day.

We promise to provide a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where your child can flourish and reach their fullest potential. They will be surrounded by a loving family, supportive community, and endless opportunities to explore, learn, and grow.

We understand that open adoption can be a beautiful way to honor the connection between birth families and adoptive families, and we are open to whatever level of openness feels right for you. We believe that every child deserves to know their story, embrace their roots, and celebrate the love that brought them into this world.

Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child. We would be honored and grateful beyond words to embark on this journey with you and to welcome your precious little one into our hearts and home. We look forward to the possibility of getting to know you and building a relationship based on trust, respect, and shared love for your child.

With heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes,

Scott & Betsy
