Our Leisure Time

Family Hike

We love spending our free time outdoors as a family. Hiking, camping, and boating are some of our favorite things to do together—especially at state parks or out west in the mountains. There's something special about sitting around a campfire, making s'mores, and looking up at the stars.

Football season is a big deal in our house—we're huge Packers fans and love watching games together and eating tasty food! We also enjoy being involved in church activities and finding ways to serve in our community.

At home, we love building with Legos and playing board games as a family. One of our current favorites is a kid-friendly Spiderman Yahtzee we play with our oldest—it always brings lots of laughs.

We look forward to the opportunity to share all the little moments with your child: their first camping trip, building towers with Legos, cheering on the Packers, or just being together as a family. These everyday memories are what we cherish most.

Our Family Traditions

Christmas Family Photo

One of our favorite family traditions happens every Saturday morning—we call it "Doughnut Day." We all load into the car and head to our local gas station (they really do have the best doughnuts!). Everett loves a long john with sprinkles, Dax always picks a blueberry cake doughnut, and of course, we grab chocolate milk. It's a simple, sweet way to kick off the weekend. We can't wait to see what kind of doughnut your child will pick someday, it's the little things like Doughnut Day that make the best memories.

Another tradition we look forward to every year is our family vacation to Door County, Wisconsin. Door County is a beautiful stretch of small towns and shoreline along Lake Michigan. It's filled with cherry orchards, lighthouses, hiking trails, cozy shops, and amazing food. Luke's family has been going there since his parents got married, and now we get to carry on that tradition with our kids.

Each trip is full of fun—exploring the little towns, enjoying local restaurants, and always making time for ice cream (usually more than once!). These trips are filled with laughter and memories that last well beyond the summer.

,p>We're so excited for the possibility to welcome your child into these traditions and start new ones as a family. Whether it's doughnut runs, summer vacations, or holiday moments—we love making memories together.

Cultural Diversity

While we are both white, we are fully open to adopting a child of any race or background.

We know that raising a child of a different race means being intentional—not just with love, but with how we support and celebrate who they are.

We're committed to making sure any child in our home feels seen, valued, and proud of where they come from. That means having books, toys, and role models that reflect their background, talking openly about race and identity, and listening when they share their experiences. We have friends who have adopted transracially and already have learned a lot from them and know they'll be an amazing part of our support system.

Our church community has some diversity and is a place where people love and encourage one another. We're also open to finding additional ways to connect our child with others who share their heritage—whether through school, mentorship, or cultural events.

We don't pretend to have all the answers, but we're committed to learning, growing, and doing the work. Most of all, we want your child to know they are deeply loved, celebrated, and never alone in their identity.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood in southeastern Wisconsin, just a short walk from a beautiful lake and beach. It's a friendly community where kids ride bikes, families chat in driveways, and neighbors actually know each other. There are lots of young families around, so there's always someone outside playing or walking their dog.

We live within walking distance or a short drive to parks, a library, and local schools. Our favorite place is our front yard—it has a playset, a tree swing, and plenty of room to run and laugh. In summer, we eat dinner on the patio, play yard games, and end the day with a popsicle. In the winter, our fireplace becomes the heart of our home as we cuddle up for family movie nights.

We both grew up in this community and moved back here to raise our children. It's full of traditions, familiar faces, and year-round events like parades, concerts, and fireworks—memories we're excited to pass on to our boys and your child.

Our Extended Families

Luke's Family

Our extended family is a close-knit and loving group, all living within 20 minutes of each other. This proximity means our two sons are fortunate to see their grandparents, aunts, and uncles multiple times each week, building strong, lasting bonds. Your child would grow up surrounded by people who will love them unconditionally, cheer them on in every season of life, and always be there—just a short drive away.

Jen's Family

Weekends are treasured family times filled with laughter and connection. During the summer, we enjoy boating adventures with Jen's family, while year-round, we play board games and card games creating memories that our family cherishes. Evenings often end around a fire, roasting s'mores and sharing stories. Sundays are special as we gather at Luke's parents' house with his sisters, where we share a home-cooked meal and catch up on our weeks. These cherished times are full of meaningful conversations, a whole lot of silliness, and bring a sense of belonging. We're especially excited this year as Luke's sister is expecting her first child. The idea of your child growing up close in age to their cousin and having a built-in best friend is something that excites us. Both of our families are over the moon about welcoming another grandbaby to spoil, encourage, and cuddle, adding even more warmth to our family circle.

From Us to You

We are beyond grateful that you are taking the time to read our letter. Please know that we have been praying for you and your baby; for peace in your heart, for wisdom in your decision, and for the beautiful life your child has ahead. We hope this letter gives you a real picture of who we are and brings you comfort and reassurance as you consider adoption.

This journey is not something we've entered into lightly. Over the past year, we've had many honest and emotional conversations, and we've prayed deeply about growing our family through adoption. We are confident that this is the next step in our family's story, and we would be honored if you and your child were part of it.

We've known each other for over ten years and have been married six. We truly are best friends-we love spending time together, making each other laugh, and parenting side-by-side. Every day we learn more about each other and how to better serve and love one another. Early in our marriage, we started dreaming of a family, and adoption was always on our hearts. After having our two sons, Everett and Dax, we still felt that pull. Though we've never struggled with infertility, we know in our hearts that adoption is something we are called to.

Our boys can't wait for a new sibling. Everett (4) is thoughtful, creative, and protective, while Dax (2) is bold, joyful, and full of energy. Their bond is strong and beautiful. We know your child would be welcomed into that love and grow up with instant best friends and cheerleaders. Having an older brother is special and unique relationship. They are your protector when mom and dad aren't around. We also have a village around us. Our extended family all lives within 20 minutes, and they are a constant source of love and support. We believe that raising a child takes a community, and we are blessed with an incredible one.

As white parents, we are fully aware that if your child is of a different race or background, it's our responsibility to help them feel seen, understood, and proud of who they are. We are committed to seeking out diverse spaces, friendships, and experiences to make sure your child is surrounded by people who reflect and celebrate their identity. We'll read the books, watch movies, ask the tough questions, and listen to the voices that will help us honor their culture. They will not walk that path alone, we'll be on it with them.

We are fully committed to open adoption. Your child will always know their story and how deeply loved they are by you. We will speak of you with love and respect, and you will always have a place in their life. We can't wait to share school pictures, milestones, sweet moments, and funny stories. Whatever you're comfortable with, we're open to. Whether that's texts and emails, video chats, or in-person visits, we want to create a connection that supports your child's well-being and your peace of mind. Regardless, we promise to send pictures and a letter annually.

Thank you for considering us. If you choose us to raise your child, we promise to provide a life full of love, joy, faith, and security. Your child will be surrounded by people who will cherish and celebrate them every day-and they will always know the deep, sacrificial love you have for them.

With love and gratitude,

Luke & Jen
